Overview

We are seeking an experienced and reliable Cook to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing high-quality meals, maintaining excellent kitchen hygiene, managing kitchen staff during service, and ensuring effective stock control. This role requires strong organisational skills, a commitment to food safety, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Food Preparation & Cooking

Prepare and cook meals to a consistently high standard following established menus and recipes. Ensure all dishes are delivered on time, well-presented, and meet portion and quality standards. Assist in menu planning and daily specials as required.
Kitchen Cleanliness & Hygiene

Maintain a clean, organised, and safe kitchen environment at all times. Ensure all work surfaces, equipment, and utensils are sanitised regularly in line with food hygiene regulations. Follow all HACCP and food safety procedures, including proper storage and rotation of ingredients. Conduct end-of-shift cleaning to maintain kitchen readiness.
Management of Kitchen Staff

Supervise and support kitchen assistants, prep staff, and other team members. Delegate tasks effectively to ensure smooth kitchen operations. Train new kitchen staff in food preparation, hygiene standards, and safety procedures. Assist in creating a positive, collaborative working environment.
Stock Control & Ordering

Monitor stock levels and conduct regular inventory checks. Ensure stock is rotated correctly (FIFO) and reduce waste through efficient preparation. Report shortages, place orders, or liaise with suppliers as required. Receive and check deliveries to maintain accurate stock records.
Skills & Qualifications

Proven experience working as a Cook or similar role. Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards. Excellent communication and team management skills. Ability to work efficiently under pressure and manage multiple tasks. Good organisational skills and attention to detail. Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2 or higher) preferred.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: 13.00-17.00 per hour
