Job Description

We are on the lookout for a Nursery Cook to join our team! Hours of work are 09:00am - 2:30pm Monday to Friday (negotiable).

No qualifications are required as full training will be provided along with certifications in Level 2 Food Hygiene and Food Allergies & Intolerances for candidates who do not already have these. The right candidate will also have the opportunity to complete formal qualifications through a professional cookery/catering apprenticeship.

In our nursery, we take great pride in providing three nutritious, home cooked meals plus a snack for our little guests. We prepare our meals fresh, on site everyday and due to the expansion of our nursery, we are looking for someone who is kitchen-confident to take up the helm in our kitchen!

Duties will include:

Preparing and serving meals and snacks Storing and labelling of food Completing simple kitchen paperwork (cleaning records, food/fridge/freezer temperature checks) Allergy awareness and management Suggesting recipes to add into our menu Checking in food deliveries Promote the highest standards of food safety and hygiene Follow all health and safety guidelines and policies Kitchen cleaning, loading dishwashers with plates/cups/cutlery
In addition to the opportunity to obtain formal cookery training if desired, the successful candidate can also choose to qualify as a Nursery Assistant by completing a fully funded Level 2 Childcare, Learning and Development apprenticeship with us (requiring a minimum of 21 hours per week), working with children across our nursery in between kitchen duties.

Requirements

Previous experience in food preparation or cooking is desirable but not essential; enthusiasm to learn is key! Home cooks are welcome! Strong organisational skills and attention to detail Ability to work efficiently under pressure during busy periods Good communication and teamworking skills
