to take responsibility for preparing healthy, balanced meals for around 350 pupils on a daily basis. This is a hands-on role for someone who takes pride in producing nutritious food from fresh ingredients, served on time and to a consistently high standard.
You will be responsible for menu planning, food preparation, and ensuring compliance with all hygiene, safety, and allergen regulations. Working largely independently, you'll organise your kitchen efficiently, maintain records, and ensure meals meet the dietary needs of all individuals.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and cook a variety of balanced meals each day, catering for different dietary requirements and preferences.
Maintain excellent standards of cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen and dining areas.
Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, allergen management, and temperature control records.
Manage kitchen stock levels, place orders, and monitor deliveries to minimise waste and ensure value for money.
Supervise and support four catering assistants.
Liaise with staff to ensure smooth mealtime service.
About You:
Proven experience as a Cook or Cook Manager in a catering or hospitality environment.
Strong knowledge of food hygiene, preparation.
Good organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to work to set meal times.
A genuine passion for preparing wholesome, freshly cooked meals.
Ability to work independently and use initiative.
