To provide an efficient service to patients/residents, understanding their needs and requirements, providing a variety of nutritious meals under hygienic conditions.
To assist the Head Cook/Chef to plan food requirements and menus for the Home, offering choices that acknowledge patients' tastes and dietary requirements and ensuring a balanced diet.
To prepare and cook foods according to the established menu.
To assist in the management of stocks of both food and non-food items:
To prepare orders for suppliers.
To ensure that foodstuffs are used within date specifications.
To develop and maintain good working relationships with suppliers/reps.
To provide cakes and other "special" items as requested (i.e. for patient birthdays).
To supervise other staff using or assisting in the kitchen.
To clean or supervise the cleaning of all areas and equipment in the kitchen.
To demonstrate a real passion for cooking and catering service.
