Job Summary

We are seeking a cook who is experienced in cooking for elderly people.

We have a small and friendly residential home in Oswestry , accommodating up to 24 residents.

We require someone who is willing to work one day a week, and to cover for other staff when they are on holiday. The hours are 7am to 5.30pm.

Applicants must have their food hygiene certificate and must have knowledge of providing nutritious meals for elderly people, some of whom will have special dietary needs. e.g. diabetic diets, , low fat meals , soft foods etc.

It is necessary to have a good knowledge of food safety standards and regulations

Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to established recipes and menus. Ensure all meals are prepared in a timely manner and meet quality standards. Assist in the planning of menus, taking into consideration dietary restrictions and preferences. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, ensuring compliance with food safety regulations. Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies as needed. Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure smooth operation during service times. Help train new kitchen staff on food preparation techniques and safety practices. Participate in regular kitchen meetings to discuss menu changes, feedback, and improvements.

Requirements

Proven experience as a Cook in a restaurant or similar culinary environment is preferred. Strong knowledge of meal preparation techniques and culinary skills. Familiarity with food safety standards and regulations. Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment. Excellent time management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. A passion for cooking and willingness to learn new techniques and cuisines. Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends as required.
