About the role

The Cook is responsible for planning and preparing a variety of nutritious meals that reflect the needs and preferences of the people supported. Meals should be well-balanced, attractively presented, and made using fresh ingredients wherever possible.

Key responsibilities include:

Preparing meals that cater for a range of dietary requirements Managing food stocks and placing orders as needed Maintaining a clean, safe and well-organised kitchen Supporting service users who wish to take part in food preparation Baking for special occasions and joining in with themed events Working in line with food hygiene and health and safety standards Being part of the daily life of the service, not just the kitchen


This is a practical, hands-on role that offers variety, connection and the opportunity to brighten someone's day through food.

What is needed

Previous experience in catering A food hygiene certificate (or willingness to work towards one) A calm, reliable and flexible approach to working in a busy environment An understanding of health and safety in a kitchen setting A respectful attitude towards the Christian ethos of the organisation

As a Christian organisation, you will need to have a respect for all aspects of Christian worship.


You will also need to become amember of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme and undertake the necessary vetting checks.You will also be required to adhere to the SSSC Code of practice.
