Job Description

To provide a good quality catering service for the nursery. Working in partnership with the manager, and deputy manager to ensure the preparation of a balanced and healthy diet for the children. Adhering to all the companies policies and procedures, in compliance with the chartered institute of environmental health-food safety, health and safety and within the guidelines of Ofsted and the national standards.

General

To prepare, cook and assist in the serving of meals and refreshments, including special dietary requirements, for the children within the nursery, ensuing healthy meals are being served. To wear appropriate cook's clothing. Prepare and cook a suitably balanced rotating menu taking into account dietary and cultural requirements of the children in line with the Nursery Managers requirements. To ensure that there are adequate supplies of provisions, through the use of efficient ordering systems. Maintaining correct stock levels, ensuring stock rotation and ensuring all stock is clearly labelled to include expiry dates. To ensure health and safety requirements are adhered to, using the relevant forms for the monitoring and recording of daily health and safety requirements. Responsible for ensuring all food items are stored and served at the required temperature. Temperature of high-risk food must be recorded at time of delivery and cooking, all food must be stored and served at the temperatures required by the chartered institute if environmental health-food safety. Ensure the kitchen equipment is kept suitably clean at all times including walls and floors following a cleaning schedule. On a daily basis ensure that all crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils are washed and sterilized in accordance with food safety guide lines. Serving food into room and collecting dirty crockery etc when finished Ensure the effective and regular removal of waste materials to the designated waste store. To undertake any other duties as reasonably required by the Manager.
