We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Cook Supervisor to lead our culinary and food service teams with enthusiasm and expertise. In this role, you will oversee daily operations within the dietary department, ensuring exceptional food quality, safety, and service standards are consistently met. Your leadership will inspire your team to deliver outstanding dining experiences, whether in fine dining settings, catering events, or restaurant environments.
Leadership
To fulfil the role of lead professional within the kitchen and dining areas, maintaining a high standard in all aspects of professional behaviour and seeking ways to continuously make improvements
To be professional, friendly, fair and respectful to all colleagues and to address any concerns through the proper channels
To be firm but fair with students, demonstrating the sort of politeness and respectfulness that we wish them to emulate, remaining professional and friendly at all times
To be helpful and welcoming to any visitors to the Academy
To promote within the department and the Academy a professional atmosphere of friendliness, support and rigour, and an enthusiasm for improving standards of healthy eating
To promote a positive attitude in leading the department, particularly when faced with challenges or frustrations
To work collaboratively with the Executive Chef for the Region and the School Business Manager in order to promote nutritional standards whilst also meeting the needs of the learners.
Operational
Line management and responsibility of the catering staff
To organise the duties of the catering team ensuring sufficient cover for the working day
To train and give guidance to new and existing staff to aid in the preparation of meals to the standard expected by the Trust
To support with the development of menu
To prepare the meals in line with the Trust's menu, ensuring that meals continue to remain compliant to school's nutritional standards and to fulfil dietary requirements, including allergens
To ensure procedures and controls are in place for regular stock control checks
To order the correct levels of stock ensuring minimum stock wastage and maximum stock turnover
To monitor prices, liaise with suppliers and to ensure deliveries are checked to ensure both quantity and quality
To follow and comply with all regulations and procedures in relation to food hygiene, COSHH and risk management practices/legislation
To ensure compliance with the requirements of Health & Safety legislation and codes of practice that are relevant to your area of responsibility and that staff are fully briefed
To undertake any catering for special functions which may be required outside of normal working hours
To undertake regular meetings with your team to keep them informed of any updates or changes in policy/procedures.
To report any accidents, fire, theft, loss, damage or unfit food or any other irregularities to the School Business Manager/Headteacher.

Prevent, identify and minimise risk of interpersonal abuse or violence, safeguarding children and other vulnerable people, initiating the management of cases involving actual or potential abuse or violence where needed.
Be aware of and update colleagues, as appropriate to comply with current legislation and policies affecting practice, e.g. Children's Act, KCSIE, National Service Frameworks, Child Protection Procedures, Health and Safety and Data Protection.
