We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Cook to join our team. As a Cook for Moorland Home, you will be directly contributing to the smooth running of our kitchen, supporting in preparing of meals for our residents. You will also be responsible for ensuring that the kitchen is clean and tidy
Our residents are at the heart of all we do, and you will be a personable individual able to communicate with residents and fellow staff to ensure the smooth running of the service.
Duties include but aren't limited to:
Prepare and cook meals and snacks following the dietary requirements, including allergies of each service user in accordance with Health & Safety Regulations to ensure meals are nutritious, appetising and meet dietary needs.
Adjust recipes and portions to accommodate individual Service Users needs and preferences.
Collaborate with, healthcare professionals and the nursing team to develop menus that promote both physical and mental well-being.
Adhere to all health, safety and sanitation standards, including maintaining clean and organised kitchen workspaces.
Ensure the correct handling and storage of food and kitchen supplies.
Monitor food temperatures and cooking time to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
Interact with Service Users in a compassionate and respectful manner, being mindful of their physical and emotional well-being.
Seek feedback from Service Users and staff regarding meal preferences and adjust menus accordingly.
Undertake stock control, recording goods to be ordered to ensure adequate supplies are maintained.
Excellent understanding and knowledge of HACCP.
Ensure correct portion control and reduce food waste where possible.
Work closely with other kitchen staff, dietary aides, and nursing staff to ensure timely meal service.
Assist in training and supporting new kitchen staff when necessary.
Qualifications
Health and safety certificate.
Food Hygiene certificate level 2 or above.
HNC level 2 or above in Food Preparation and Cooking.
