Cook - Eveline Day Nursery School



Overview



We are seeking a caring and reliable Cook to join our team at Eveline Day Nursery School. This role is essential to the smooth running of our nursery, ensuring freshly prepared, nutritious meals are served daily to children and staff. With a long-standing reputation for quality and care, we are looking for someone who shares our commitment to providing a warm, safe, and healthy environment for our nursery community.

Responsibilities



Prepare and cook breakfast, lunch, and high tea for children, as well as lunch for staff, in line with weekly menus. Cater to a variety of dietary needs, including allergies and intolerances, following parental and staff guidance with the utmost care. Puree food for very young children as requested by parents or nursery carers. Check food quality before use and report any concerns to the Manager or Deputy. Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen at all times, including regular cleaning of all appliances (cookers, fridges, freezers, cupboards, etc.). Ensure correct storage of food, including stock rotation and monitoring fridge/freezer temperatures. Keep accurate records of meat delivery temperatures, cooking temperatures, and daily fridge/freezer logs. Wash all dishes, pots, and kitchen utensils used during food preparation and service (dishwasher provided). Clean and sterilise babies' feeding bottles using appropriate detergent and steam steriliser. Work with the Manager or Deputy to plan menus and order provisions. Oversee access to the kitchen to maintain safety and cleanliness--only essential staff may enter for tasks such as laundry or meal collection. Approve and supervise any staff cooking activities with children, ensuring they do not interfere with kitchen operations. Follow the nursery's dress code and wear the supplied uniform. Follow reasonable instructions from the Manager or Deputy. Show professionalism and respect towards all colleagues, regardless of religion, race, gender, or cultural beliefs.

Skills and Experience



Experience cooking in a professional or childcare setting preferred Knowledge of dietary requirements, food safety, and hygiene standards Strong attention to detail, especially when handling food for young children and allergies Good organisational and time-management skills Able to work independently and take responsibility for kitchen operations Commitment to maintaining a clean and safe environment Respectful and professional communication style with colleagues and management

Pay: 26,500.00-28,080.00 per year
