The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in food preparation and service, a strong understanding of food safety standards, and the ability to lead by example in a fast-paced environment. This role involves working closely with the wider team to deliver consistently high-quality food and a great customer experience.
Hours for this role will be
mainly over weekends
, with
some weekday shifts
required to support the team during busier periods, holidays, or special events.
Duties
Lead and support daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and service.
Ensure full compliance with all food hygiene, health, and safety regulations.
Oversee kitchen cleanliness and organisation, ensuring all work areas are clean, safe, and well maintained.
Monitor stock levels, report shortages, and support with stock rotation and waste control.
Supervise and support kitchen assistants, ensuring smooth and efficient service during peak periods.
Maintain consistent food quality, portion control, and presentation standards.
Communicate effectively with front-of-house and supervisory teams to ensure a seamless customer experience.
Assist with training and onboarding of new team members.
Uphold company standards and contribute to a positive and professional team culture.
Experience
Previous experience in a cook or kitchen role within hospitality, cafe, or restaurant settings.
Strong practical cooking skills and understanding of food preparation techniques.
Proven ability to work effectively under pressure during busy service periods.
Knowledge of food hygiene and health & safety procedures (Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate preferred).
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
A proactive, hands-on, and reliable approach to work.
