Duties

Plan and develop diverse menus that meet nutritional guidelines and accommodate special dietary requirements Prepare, cook, and serve meals with precision, ensuring high standards of food quality, taste, and presentation Handle food safely by adhering to strict hygiene protocols, proper food handling procedures, and sanitation standards Assist with food portioning and plating to ensure appealing presentation for residents Collaborate with dietary aides and staff to coordinate meal times and special event catering Maintain accurate records of food inventory, storage conditions, and expiration dates Support the dietary department by contributing to meal prep activities and ensuring timely service during busy periods

Qualifications

Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or a culinary role within a care home, restaurant, or food industry setting Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and proper food handling techniques Experience in menu planning that balances nutrition with variety and flavor Skilled in food industry practices such as catering, serving, and kitchen operations Excellent knife skills and proficiency in meal preparation techniques Background in fine dining or restaurant experience is a plus but not required Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail and quality standards
