The Bughties Nursing Home is a small nursing home situated in the quiet residential area of Broughty Ferry. A traditional tudor style building with many original features enjoying extensive views over the River Tay. We provide care for 28 Frail Elderly residents.

Overview

We are seeking a talented and passionate Cook to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in culinary arts and a genuine love for food preparation. As a Cook, you will play a crucial role in creating delicious meals that meet our high standards of quality and presentation. You will work in a fast-paced kitchen environment, collaborating with other kitchen staff to ensure efficient meal service while adhering to food safety regulations.

Hours of work are 31.5hrs per week. 8am till 6pm over 3.5 days. Rolling rota - wed, thurs, fri one week and mon, tues, sat, sun the following.

Duties

Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to established recipes and menu specifications. Oversee the daily operations of the kitchen, ensuring that food preparation meets quality standards. Assist in menu planning and development, incorporating seasonal ingredients and residents preferences. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, including proper storage of food items. Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and health standards at all times. Train and mentor junior kitchen staff, providing guidance on cooking techniques and best practices. Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies as needed to ensure smooth operations. Collaborate with care staff to ensure timely service and customer satisfaction.

Requirements

Proven experience as a cook or in a similar role within a care home or similar facility. Strong culinary skills with knowledge of various cooking techniques and cuisines. Familiarity with meal preparation, food safety standards, and kitchen equipment. Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail in food presentation. Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members. A passion for cooking and helping others enjoy exceptional meals.
