We are seeking a talented and passionate Pub Cook/Chef to join our culinary team at the Kings Arms Hotel, Kirkby Lonsdale. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in meal preparation and food safety, with a flair for creating delicious dishes that delight our guests. As a Cook/Chef, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the high standards of our kitchen while ensuring that all food is prepared in accordance with health and safety regulations.

Here at the Kings Arms Hotel, our kitchen is managed by one cook/chef at any one time with the addition of a KP at busier times and weekends.

You must have the ability to work solo and able to work in a fast environment while remaining in a calm and collected position.

Responsibilities

Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to the restaurant's menu and standards. Ensure all food preparation is conducted in compliance with food safety regulations. Assist in menu planning and development, incorporating seasonal ingredients and customer preferences. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, ensuring all equipment is properly cleaned and stored. Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure efficient workflow during service periods. Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and supplies, placing orders as necessary to maintain stock. Train and mentor junior kitchen staff, providing guidance on culinary techniques and food safety practices. Stay updated on culinary trends and techniques to continually enhance menu offerings.

Requirements

Proven experience as a Cook/Chef or in a similar culinary role within a restaurant environment. Strong knowledge of kitchen operations, including meal preparation and food safety protocols. Excellent cooking skills with the ability to create diverse dishes from various cuisines. Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in food presentation. A passion for cooking and creativity in developing new recipes. Good communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members.
