Job Purpose
The Part-Time Cook at Dabrunch Cafe Ltd is responsible for preparing high-quality dishes, supporting kitchen operations, and maintaining our standards for food presentation, flavour, and safety. This role contributes directly to the customer experience and the smooth running of our Caribbean-inspired brunch kitchen.
Key Responsibilities
Food Preparation & Cooking
Prepare and cook all menu items according to Dabrunch Cafe recipes and standards.
Assist in preparing Caribbean and brunch-style dishes such as fried dumplings, plantain, wings, pasta dishes, breakfast items, etc.
Ensure consistent portioning, taste, and presentation across all dishes.
Support the creation of daily specials when required.
Creating and suggesting new menu options is desirable and encouraged.
Maintain prep sections by ensuring produce is washed, cut, stored, and labelled correctly.
Kitchen Operations
Ensure kitchen and food prep areas are clean, sanitised, and well organised at all times.
Set up cooking stations and equipment before service and ensure efficient clean-down after service.
Maintain stock rotation and notify the manager when stock levels are low.
Assist with receiving and storing deliveries safely.
Health, Hygiene & Safety
Follow all food hygiene regulations and maintain Level 2 Food Hygiene expectations.
Handle food safely, label items correctly, and monitor storage temperatures.
Adhere to allergen guidelines and ensure dishes are prepared safely for customers with dietary needs.
Report any hazards, faulty equipment, or incidents to the manager immediately.
Teamwork & Communication
Work closely with kitchen staff and front-of-house team to deliver efficient service.
Communicate clearly during busy periods to ensure smooth coordination.
Maintain a positive, respectful and supportive attitude toward colleagues and customers.
Required Skills & Experience
Previous experience in a kitchen or cooking environment (preferred but not essential).
Knowledge of Caribbean or brunch-style cuisine is highly desirable.
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication and time-management skills.
Basic understanding of food safety (Food Hygiene Level 2 certification an advantage).
Ability to follow recipes and maintain consistency.

Working Hours
Part-time (minimum 24-34 hours weekly depending on business needs)
