About the role


The Bodleian Libraries Open Scholarship Support Department provides a central point for advocacy and strategy in the areas of open access, open scholarship, copyright and research data management. The role of Copyright Support Lead is a new, 3-year fixed-term position within the team, reporting to the Head of Copyright and Licensing.

You will be responsible for delivering, in collaboration with the Head of Copyright and Licensing, a comprehensive copyright literacy programme at the Bodleian Libraries and throughout the University of Oxford. You will be required to:
Respond to enquiries received from Oxford staff and students according to an agreed service level Address emerging copyright problems through collaboration with colleagues and create clear guidance that draws on authoritative sources of information Promote copyright literacy by delivering copyright teaching and briefing sessions across the University of Oxford, devising bespoke sessions where required Develop and maintain an intellectual property rights (IPR) risk management framework to ensure that digitisation projects apply a consistent and auditable approach to rights research and clearance.
This is a full-time, fixed-term post for 3 years. The role supports a hybrid office/remote working arrangement, typically allowing for an average of 3 days per week working from home, though this arrangement is flexible.

About You


You will have a detailed knowledge of copyright law, or an equivalent field of information law/policy, as well as experience working in the higher education or cultural heritage sectors. You will have a degree, postgraduate level qualification or equivalent experience, and excellent written and oral communication skills. You will also have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to demonstrate project management experience. You will have experience of analysing complex legal requirements and making decisions or recommendations for compliance whilst also managing and prioritising your own workload.
