The Role



The Restructuring and Insolvency Director is responsible for leading complex restructuring and insolvency engagements, managing client relationships, and ensuring compliance with relevant legal and technical frameworks. The role requires strategic thinking, strong leadership, and the ability to deliver high-quality work under pressure.

Core Skills



Client Focus: o Take the lead on managing and building client relationships with Azets clients with responsibility for developing relationships on key clients. o Identify and deliver service improvements. o Demonstrate a deep understanding of client underlying future needs. o Understand current & future forces that will shape and influence clients' needs. o Use a variety of influence approaches for strategic impact. o Make decisions based on maintaining long-term relationships. o Deliver excellent client satisfaction as measured by relevant KPIs. o Manage client complaints in accordance with Azets processes. o Take the lead on cross-service line delivery on own client base. Technical Excellence: o Recognised as a technical expert. o Provide oversight and take responsibility for ensuring that team members possess the necessary skills, knowledge, and behaviours required to deliver accurate, high-quality work for our clients. o Assess the team's ability to deal with future technical or regulatory developments and take steps to address any skill gaps including managing talent/resource and software planning. o Have a broad knowledge of the more technical aspects of other service lines - be able to spot and talk at a high level about matters outside of own service line. o Think beyond own area to develop capability. o Ensure that quality is beyond a minimum level, with adherence to key processes and ensuring appropriate training is undertaken. Key accountabilities



Decision Making: o Take a dynamic and flexible approach to decision making, using live data to recognise when different approaches are required. o Hold genuinely open discussions, listen to others' views, and show a willingness to compromise. o Present a range of possible decision-making options to stakeholders, highlighting the positive and negative implications of each to reach a decision. o Identify and extract relevant data to support a decision from a large volume and wide range of sources. o Consistently demonstrate awareness and sound judgement on decisions which are able to be made autonomously and escalate those that cannot to more senior stakeholders. o Actively review and adapt past decisions where data suggests original expectations are not being met. Technical Skills



Project Management: o Project manage multiple/large/complex client engagements. o Resolve the majority of project issues and refer to second partner review as appropriate. o Engage with and manage stakeholders. o Manage budgets for all projects including monitoring WIP, provisions, and billings. o Oversee team including resourcing, delegation of work, and team motivation. o Make appropriate judgments when making decisions on cases. Risk & Compliance: o Understand key areas of compliance and key commercial risks and mitigants for a project. Ensure findings are documented. o Guide and supervise less experienced colleagues. o Ensure compliance with onboarding including engagement letters, PAC memos, conflict notes on all projects as appropriate. Business Report Writing: o Produce reports that are complex, including recommendations. o Minimal partner input required in reports prior to finalisation including drafting of considered conclusions and recommendations. o Scope and manage the production of high-quality documents/presentations/reports that are capable of meeting stakeholder expectations. o Apply strategic thinking around scoping and refining the presentation of elements in reports mindful of stakeholder objectives and positioning for future negotiation. o Consider technical content of any given report and ensure compliance with regulations and legislation. o Guide, supervise, and support less experienced colleagues. o Review and sign off reports. Business Development: o Continue to build a network of external contacts in relation to case work and through attending and organising appropriate marketing events. o Continue to develop internal network both with national R&I offices and cross stream. o Prepare and deliver pitches and proposals to a high standard. o Proactively seek out work opportunities. o Win and refer new work. Legal and Technical Framework: o Identify training needs across the team and deliver training. o Ensure work completed is compliant with relevant legal and technical frameworks. o Read legal updates and technical bulletins to ensure technical knowledge is up to date. o Have a strong commercial awareness of current developments and "hot topics" in the marketplace and be able to debate these with clients and colleagues. o Brief counsel and challenge advice received. Analytical Skills: o Work with clients to lead the development of solutions to challenges. o Support junior staff in preparing financial statements including receipts and payments accounts, statement of affairs, deficiency accounts, and estimated outcome statements. o Consider knowledge of the client and situation when completing reviews and preparing models. o Review and sense check the accuracy of financial models and challenge their core assumptions. Use experience to guide others to key areas of focus. o Oversee team in conducting investigations to ensure investigations are complete, thorough, and accurate. o Deliver more complex investigations. o Apply strategic thinking around the model outputs and consider their potential impacts on the wider process.

Qualifications



Professional certifications such as Certified Turnaround Professional (CTP) or Certified Insolvency and Restructuring Advisor (CIRA) preferred.

Essential Experience



o Extensive experience in restructuring and insolvency, including managing complex engagements. o Proven track record of building and maintaining client relationships. o Strong leadership and team management skills.
