This role at B&Q offers an exciting chance to work at the heart of Kingfisher's UK operations, ensuring top-tier tax compliance across multiple entities. You'll be responsible for preparing Corporation Tax computations, forecasts, and statutory reporting, while playing a crucial role in advising B&Q and other Kingfisher UK companies on tax-related matters. Your expertise will help streamline processes, implement automation and assess industry changes, ensuring the wider group stays ahead of evolving tax regulations.
Working as an integral part of the in-house tax team based in B&Q's Store Support Office (SSO) principally covering Corporation Tax and for an allocation of companies within the Kingfisher UK Group. In addition, providing assistance to the business with tax related matters and supporting team projects.
Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities:
Preparation of UK, Ireland and offshore Corporation Tax computations
Preparation of budgets and forecasts and other corporate tax compliance
Preparation of the current and deferred tax notes for inclusion in the statutory accounts
Preparation of balance sheet controls and compliance with internal controls for tax
Identifying potential opportunities for improvements to the tax compliance and reporting processes including
finding efficiencies and automation opportunities, and considering impacts across the business and supporting
the implementation of change
Assess industry developments and legislation changes on an ongoing basis and advise the business accordingly
Providing tax advice to other areas of the business
Considering the tax implications of business initiatives and involvement in effective implementation from a tax
perspective
Reviewing integrity and reliability of systems and reporting for tax compliance purposes to identify any
weaknesses or areas of risk
Supporting other team members with other tax compliance activities as required
Essential skills:
Detailed tax knowledge, with expertise in Corporation Tax
Strong accounting skills
Good communication skills
Conscientious with an eye for detail
Strong excel skills
Knowledge and experience:
Accounting and/or Tax qualification (e.g. ACA/ACCA or ATT/CTA)
At least three years tax experience in industry or practice.
Experience using SAP & Onesource software desirable
Experience of processing large amounts of data in an organised way
Strong judgment, planning and prioritisation skills
Previous experience of following issues through to ultimate conclusion
Thrives when working in a fast paced environment
Technically up to date and aware of industry and legislative changes
Experience in relation to VAT & employment taxes desirable
