An independent British Fragrance and Cosmetic House based in Suffolk is looking for a Cosmetic Scientist to join their team.
Job Role
Formulate new and/or improves existing formulas, packages or manufacturing procedures in conjunction with guidelines established by the head of the department, according to internal and external customers
Assist in the development and/or perform all testing requirements on new formulas and packages.
Ensure that assigned projects are executed in a manner which is compliant with all regulatory guidelines.
Conduct intellectual searches for technical or clinical information through a variety of resources, including the Internet.
Assist in the development and maintenance of timelines, resource allocations and budgets for projects assigned.
Communicate, in a timely fashion, all information regarding formulation, project status, costing, results, etc. to all appropriate individuals, keeping in mind the confidentiality requirements.
Document test results, specifications and procedures in a standard professional format for inclusion in the Product Information File.
Participate in the technology transfer from pilot scale to full-up production.
Explore new technologies and materials, which may have application in future formulations.
Ensure that confidential procedures are strictly adhered to at all times.
Write and/or reviews procedures, protocols and specifications needed to support product development activities.
Ensure the maintenance and/or adherence to good laboratory practices and all safety regulations.
Strengthen the R & D Department by contributing innovative ideas, expertise, knowledge, high professional standards and team spirit.
Provide documentation on new product development projects (e.g., status reports, timelines, specifications, procedures, etc.).
Experience in developing creams and lotions is desirable, but not mandatory.
Must be able to work with very little supervision.
Combine and process weighed ingredients, observing batch throughout manufacturing process. Records all notable characteristics. Introduces colour adjustments as required.
Assist in evaluating product stability by submitting samples of experimental products.
Conduct physical tests on batch samples to ensure product adheres to pre-determined specifications.
Maintain accurate and detailed records and logs of all work performed.
Demonstrate knowledge of and performance within acceptable laboratory safety standards.
Perform other duties as assigned and required.
