WHAT TO EXPECT

As an innovation leader, we look for an ambitious, forward thinking, open-minded and well-rounded individual to join our European team. Working full-time from our Dumfries office, you will be a Cost Accountant.

Reporting to the Senior Finance Business Partner, the core functions of the position include reporting appropriate and relevant management information to business stakeholders and supporting the month end close and preparation of management accounts.

Key responsibilities:

  • Supporting the Senior Finance Business Partner with preparation of the monthly management accounts to Europe/Gates Corporate to strict deadlines
  • Finance business partnering with the operations teams, including proactively providing information and insight that helps the Operations team make better decisions on how to deliver against business targets and goals.
  • Production of weekly/monthly management information re. operational performance, variance analysis and commentaries
  • Proactively seeking out opportunities to continuously improve finance and business-related processes.
  • Raw Material and WIP month-end reconciliations; including monitoring data integrity within local ERP system and addressing any issues as they arise.
  • Analyse purchase price and material variances; providing reports to the business and EMEA Finance team.
  • Working with the business to produce accurate operational variance forecasts including purchase price and material usage.
  • Review manufacturing stock movements and investigate differences.
  • Investigate spend variance to targets/budget/forecast.
  • Maintain item TPC and carry out year-end updates to standards.
  • Raise and reconcile intercompany material invoices, including relevant balance sheet reconciliations and addressing differences with intercompany partner companies.
  • Provide item quotations and calculate costing scenarios.
  • Support Senior Finance Business Partner and other business stakeholders with ad hoc projects.
  • Assist with Audit requests when required.
ABOUT YOU

Required Experience:
  • Accounting qualification or working towards CIMA/ACCA.
  • Thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Excel as well as sound experience of PowerPoint.
  • Experience of working within costing in a busy manufacturing environment essential.
  • Experience of HFM and ODBC preferable.
Required Skills:
  • Excellent analytical and complex problem-solving skills together with a full understanding of both company policies on internal control and statutory legislation.
  • Inter-personal skills must be well developed as position requires interaction across a wide cross section of the business.
  • The ability to work under pressure to achieve tight deadlines.
  • Good IT skills with the capability to produce excel spreadsheets to an advanced level, strong working knowledge of ERP/Manufacturing systems.
  • Self-motivation and drive to make continuous improvement in the role.
