Job summary
His Majesty's Naval Base Clyde (HMNB Clyde) is home to the United Kingdom's Strategic Nuclear Deterrent, Astute Class Attack Submarines, First Mine Counter Measure Squadron and 43 Cdo Royal Marines. It is an operational support and maintenance base, within the Navy Command TLB and comprises both Faslane and Coulport sites. HMNB Clyde's primary purpose is to provide engineering and logistical support to the Royal Navy in maintaining Continuous at Sea Deterrent (CASD). This is
achieved by ensuring at least one Vanguard Class submarine is on patrol at sea every day of the year.
RNAD Coulport is responsible for the storage, processing, maintenance and issue of the Trident Weapon System and the ammunitioning of all submarine-embarked tactical weapons.

Job description
You will:
1. Lead for the day to day management of nuclear security at RNAD on behalf of Nuclear Security Authority Assistant Head (NSA Asst Hd) and Deputy Nuclear Security Authority (Coulport) DNSA(C).
2. Liaise with other piliars within Clyde Security Organisation (CSyO) to ensure that Coulport has the best level of Subject Matter Expert (SME) cover to enable the Depot and operations remain secure, safe and effective.
3. Liaise with MOD, Contractor Ministry Of Defence Police (MDP) and Service personnel to cultivate relationships which develop, maintain and improve the delivery of the security effect.
4. In consultation with NSA Asst Hd and DNSA (C), identify and mitigate against any security vulnerabilities associated with the Nuclear Weapon (NW) and any NW related movements in RNAD(C).
5. Act as the SME on weapon security, particularly the processes necessary to maintain safe, secure and effective operations.
6. Daily management of security projects in RNAD(C), ensuring the necessary work is driven forward to a high standard in conformance with Nuclear Safety and security standards, benchmarked against Office of Nuclear Regulation and Defence Nuclear Security Regulator.
7. Assist DNSA and NSA Asst Hd with the incorporation of security measures into Base policy, orders and instructions to build a positive security culture.
8. Assist in the initial investigations of security breaches of Physical security and MDP/MGS occurrence reports, providing advice on subsequent action and carrying out investigations when directed.
9. Oversee the daily state of security systems, including CCTV, PIDS and IDS and, where there are faults work to ensure these are remedied and work to mitigate any risk with Site Security Forces and others.
10. Act as the Atomic Liaison Officer for NBCC and ensure the Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability of ATOMIC (plus COMPARTMENTS) information, including the TPR processes and keys. Enforcing the need to know principle and contributing to a positive security culture.
11. Participate in any NW Security workshops and the Security Exercise Programme, ensuring the latter conforms with the Site's Nuclear Safety Management protocols.
12. Support Nuclear Safety and Security audits and visits on request or as required.
13. Ensure a regime of regular spot checks of the Physical Security Equipment across the RNAD estate (including in the Control Rooms) is in place, particularly in areas of high risk such as DNA storage facilities and Armouries.

Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working. This is a non-contractual arrangement where all office-based employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in office, subject to capacity and any required workplace adjustments. Requirements to attend other locations for official business, or work in another MOD office, will also count towards this level of attendance.
