Job Overview


To deliver a highly developed level of professional counselling including psychological, emotional and bereavement support to patients and families known to St Kentigern Hospice (working across our clinical services).

Key Requirements



Fully qualified Level 4 (or above) in Psychotherapeutic Counselling from CPCAB or a Master's (or other qualification in Counselling, from a UK recognised examining body).

Knowledge and practice of person centred approach to counselling essential.

Completed at least 150 hours of one to one client work.

Key Responsibilities



Working alongside members of the Family Support Team and supported by the Family Support Lead. Manage your own caseload and provide a counselling service in line with BACP Ethical framework. Working with the Multi-Disciplinary Team as needed, work with clients/patients using individual, group or family support group methods. Ensure referrals to other services that may best support psychological or spiritual needs are made. Be involved in training and education at St Kentigern Hospice Ensure regular external supervision, in-line with BACP recommendations Participate in audit and research if required. Participate in triaging referrals to the service. Manage own notes and records in accordance to policy guidelines

Skills



To demonstrate an understanding of Palliative Care and a Hospice's ethos of offering holistic support to patients and their families confidentially.

To understand the boundaries between patient treatment and confidential counselling sessions (especially when counselling relatives of the patient) and how to navigate those within a multi-disciplinary team.

Personal Qualities



Excellent communication skills, with clients and with other team members. Confidence, creativity and flexibility. A willingness to support others within the team and share ideas and experience. The person must be organised, self-sufficient and trustworthy.

An ability to speak Welsh would be desirable.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: 30,420.00-37,030.00 per year

Expected hours: 7.5 per week
