Counsellor/psychological Therapist

Job Description

North East Counselling and Therapy provides individual psychological therapy to self-referred clients in the Durham area. Due to expansion, we are looking for a qualified and experienced Counsellor/ Psychological Therapist to join and work with adults at our clinic in central Durham. The role involves providing psychological therapy to clients presenting with a wide variety of mental health problems. We provide comfortable consulting rooms with free wifi.

The successful practitioner will be expected to work autonomously, have strong assessment and therapeutic skills and be dependable, approachable and flexible. As part of this role you will receive regular clinical supervision.

Essential requirements:

Possess a recognised clinical qualification (Diploma or Foundation Degree minimum), BACP/UKCP/BABCP accredited or equivalent Experience of working with adults with mild to complex presenting mental health problems. Hold an enhanced DBS Possess indemnity insurance for private work Be experienced in delivering short term and longer term therapy and able to build strong therapeutic relationships with clients. Possess excellent communication skills. Have the ability to work on your own as well as in consultation with others. A responsible, professional approach, respecting the confidentiality of clients. Minimum 3 years post qualification experience working with individuals
Desirable skills

Experience of working with couples and families in a therapeutic setting. Specialist relevant post-qualification training e.g. EMDR, Family Therapy
This position is part-time and an associate role thus you will be contracted on a self-employed basis with responsibility for your own tax administration. Rooms will be provided at no added cost and we will handle your initial client referrals. Days and hours are negotiable depending on circumstances and you will be initially offered sessional clinics (0.5 day), which is intended to increase as per your capacity.

Remuneration is negotiable based on experience.
