Job Description

This is a fantastic opportunity to work within the Sopra Steria (SSL) Counter Fraud team which provides a service to all SSL entities, external clients and stakeholders.
The SSL Counter Fraud Officer will be supporting the Head of Counter Fraud in delivery of the Counter Fraud strategy. The individual will respond to the challenge of developing and implementing new ways of working as well as maintaining existing processes across the business to ensure SSL protect its financial assets and those of its clients.
In the role you will be responsible for ensuring that SSL delivers an effective Counter Fraud programme, including conducting investigations and providing a robust fraud prevention approach across the whole business.
The role involves some travel to SSL locations, across the country, as and when required.
What you will be doing:

  • Manage the investigation of any reported suspected incidents of Fraud, maintaining an accurate, comprehensive, factual record of the actions taken at each stage of the investigation and conclusions reached.
  • Being a main point of contact for advice and guidance relating to Fraud and associated areas such as Money Laundering and Bribery & Corruption.Implementing
  • Government Counter Fraud standards (GovS 013).
  • Delivery and maintenance of Fraud prevention frameworks in line with the pillars from the Economic Crime & Corporate Transparency Act guidance notes.
  • Work with SSL business areas to facilitate and maintain Fraud Risk Assessments (FRA), including a programme of reviewing existing FRAs.
  • Identification and management of Fraud related risks, ensuring that the appropriate controls are being managed to mitigate the risks.
  • Perform trend analysis on reported Fraud incidents to identify areas of controls weakness/opportunities for improvement.
  • Identify areas where a pro-active approach, to identify potential Fraud, can be undertaken, and deliver this work.
  • Liaise with Law Enforcement and third parties during investigations of attempted or actual Fraud, where required.
  • Maintain a log to record details of all identified Fraud incidents reported.
  • Manage a programme of awareness training (online and in-person) and communications to help promote an Anti-Fraud culture within SSL, ensuring a clear understanding of the Fraud reporting processes across the organisation.
  • Review and maintain all relevant SSL Fraud policies and procedures.
  • Provide monthly reports to the Head of Counter Fraud, detailing activities undertaken.
What you'll bring:
  • Experience of conducting Fraud investigation.
  • Experience of evidence gathering, including maintaining chain of custody and integrity of information evidence and intelligence.
  • Experience of conducting interviews with witnesses, third parties and those suspected of being involved in Fraud or other financial crime.
  • Knowledge of GovS 013 standards.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills - both verbal and written - including writing of detailed reports explaining findings.
  • Analytical thinking - being able to process a volume of information and data to reach a sound understanding of the issues at hand.
It would be great if you had:
  • Accredited Counter Fraud Specialist, or other relevant training/accreditation
  • Fraud Risk Assessment training
  • Open-source intelligence gathering skills / knowledge
