Job Advert Description
An opportunity has arisen for a Counter Terrorism Case Officer (CTCO) as part of the CTP Wales Prevent Team under the broader capability of CTP Wales Interventions. We are looking for a dynamic individual who is comfortable to manage risk and make robust decisions.

The role of the CTCO is to support the Prevent Strand of the Contest strategy. You will be required to deliver an enhanced response to support and deter those who are susceptible to radicalisation; tackle the causes of radicalisation in communities and online; combat the activities of extremist groomers and work towards disengagement from terrorist activities by those already supporting or engaged in terrorism. You will be responsible for the effective risk management of Prevent subjects, working with multi agency partners to divert the subject away and effectively manage the risk in the community. The CTCO will also be responsible for delivering awareness and training to regional and local partners internally and externally to raise awareness of Prevent and the referral process.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate an understanding of Counter Terrorism policing, in particular the Contest and Prevent Strategy.

The successful candidate must have or be willing to attend, complete and pass the National Prevent Foundation Programme which is a pass or fail course. They will be given sufficient time by their supervisors to complete this. The course will involve travel and overnight stays.

The successful candidate will become part of UK CT Network. They must be willing, at times, to travel to other locations in the UK and stay overnight if necessary.

As all CTP staff are part of the CT Network you may be required to undertake additional duties from time to time in order to manage the risk to National Security across the UK.

If you would like to seek more information about this role please contact HR.HELPDESK@south-wales.police.uk

CTP Wales actively encourages those from under-represented groups to apply so we can achieve a workforce representative of the communities we serve.

This post requires the successful candidate to successfully complete vetting to MV/SC Level and DV (Developed Vetting) Level.

Please note, if you are an internal candidate and subject to an ongoing PSD investigation, your appointment or placement in the role may be delayed pending an outcome. Whether the role is held open will be considered on a case-by-case basis

The post will also require the successful completion of an additional security induction process, part of which requires pre-screening checks of nationality and foreign connections. It must be stressed that this is in addition to Developed Vetting or Force Management Vetting. Candidates must achieve both clearances to take up this post.

Employment within Counter Terrorism Policing requires applicants for the role to undertake a further security induction for which British citizenship is required. Failure to hold citizenship would preclude persons for applying for these positions.
