JOB PURPOSE



To safely operate a counterbalance forklift and support yard operations at Tilbury Docks, ensuring efficient handling of goods while maintaining high health and safety standards in a busy, physically demanding environment.



MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



Operate counterbalance forklifts safely and efficiently in a busy yard environment. Load, unload, and move goods and materials as directed. Support yard operations with manual handling and general physical tasks. Follow all health & safety procedures to ensure a safe working environment. Carry out regular equipment checks and report any faults or issues. Work collaboratively with the yard team to maintain smooth operations. Responsibility for compliance and discharging legal duties with regards to HR and Health & Safety to promote a safe, equitable and legally compliant workplace.


KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO DO THE JOB



Valid, in-date Counterbalance Forklift Licence (essential). Proven experience operating forklifts in a busy yard or dockside setting. Good understanding of health & safety practices in a high-traffic environment. Physically fit and comfortable with manual handling duties. Reliable, safety-focused, and able to work well in a team.
