About the role and our team

Join us as a Countryside Operative for the Department of Environment, Food & Agriculture!

In this role, you will be working as part of a small countryside maintenance estate team undertaking a variety of maintenance, environmental and conservation tasks across the Department\'s public land portfolio consisting of forests, glens and hill-land.

You will be expected to undertake a diverse range of practical and manual based tasks, in all weathers, to maintain, contribute and promote safe areas for the public and the enhancement of biodiversity.

Some of your duties will include:

  • Undertake a range of manual tasks such as mowing, tree felling, chipping, brashing and other rural estate based tasks
  • Operate and ensure the safe use and maintenance of various tools, plant and equipment
  • Building and repairing a range of boundaries including fences, walls and hedging
  • Building and maintaining footpaths and trails for walkers, cyclists and horse riders
Your working pattern will be 8 hour days Monday to Thursday, 5 hours on a Friday finishing at 1pm.
