COUNTRYSIDE RANGER

PERMANENT FULL-TIME POSITION (37.0 hours)

Salary: 30,024 - 32,597

37 hours per week Monday to Friday with occasional work on evenings or weekends;

Annual holiday entitlement of 23 days, plus bank holidays and two statutory days at Christmas;

Automatic enrolment into East Sussex Local Government Pension Scheme;

WPA (an NHS Top-Up scheme) which enables staff to claim some money back for healthcare (optical, dental, therapy, physio etc).

Uckfield Town is located within the heart of Wealden District close to Ashdown Forest AONB, the South Downs National Park and has good transport links to London by rail, and bus services between Brighton and Tunbridge Wells.

As Countryside Ranger you will have specific responsibility for undertaking practical conservation work and overseeing the work of contractors and/or volunteers to deliver priorities identified within biodiversity and/or management plans.

You will be experienced in the safe use of equipment such as chainsaws, strimmers, brush-cutters, tractor and trailer driving, chippers and other associated equipment. You will also be familiar with the installation of benches, gates, fencing, notice boards, pond maintenance etc.

You will be expected to be able to work independently or as part of a team, be proactive in your approach, be hands-on, and able to manage a varied workload.
