The Cover Supervisor plays a vital role in maintaining the educational environment in the absence of regular teaching staff. This position involves supervising students, ensuring their safety, and facilitating learning activities. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills and a passion for working with children, particularly those with special educational needs, including autism and other disabilities.
Responsibilities
Supervise students in the classroom and during breaks, ensuring a safe and productive environment.
Implement pre-prepared lesson plans effectively to engage students in learning activities.
Provide support to students with special educational needs, fostering an inclusive atmosphere.
Assist with classroom management, promoting positive behaviour and addressing any issues that arise.
Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents to support student development.
Mentor and tutor students as needed, adapting approaches to meet individual learning styles.
Encourage creativity through activities such as creative writing and group projects.
Maintain accurate records of student attendance and behaviour.
Experience
Previous experience working with children in an educational setting is essential.
Familiarity with special education practices and working with individuals with disabilities is highly desirable.
Experience in tutoring or mentoring roles will be advantageous.
Strong communication skills are necessary for effective interaction with students and colleagues.
A background in teaching or related fields will be beneficial, particularly experience with children on the autism spectrum.
A creative approach to engaging students will enhance the learning experience.
