Job Purpose:

The supervision of classes to cover for teacher absence and the provision of other pupil support services and clubs.

Main Core Duties:

Supervision of classes to cover for teacher absence.

This supervision will include the following responsibilities:

Ensure all pupils are accurately registered Ensuring that work set by the absent teacher is distributed to pupils and explained Supervising the completion of set tasks by pupils while providing explanations that enable them to problem solve and arrive at solutions Modelling solutions and answers for pupils Manage pupil behaviour so that the class is not disrupted or disruptive, and follow school behavioural guidelines Praise pupils who are making an effort and using aptitude, follow school rewards policies Actively support and implement the Heath Lane Academy behaviour and discipline policy; both in class and throughout the school Cover as a tutor group mentor; registering pupils, accompanying them to assemblies, lead mentor time activities and promote their well-being and encourage their full participation in all aspects of school life Support the SEN team with whole class delivery and/or individual pupil support and sessions Individual learning assistance with a single or small group of pupils as directed by a teacher or school leaders, providing support that enables those pupils to problem solve and arrive at solutions * Act with regard to the safety of pupils and other staff
