We are looking for a reliable cover supervisor to join our highly focused, dynamic, talented and supportive team.
The role will be based at Horizons Academy which is due to open to pupils in January 2026.

Be part of Horizons Academy, a brand new, state of the art special school opening in January 2026 in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. The purpose-built academy will meet the needs of children and young people from key stage 2 to 5 with social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH), along with autism spectrum conditions (ASC). The academy will accommodate 160 pupils aged 7 to 19.
Purpose of the post
The successful candidate will work under the guidance of the leadership team and teaching staff to lead individuals/groups of students in or out of the classroom including supervision of whole classes during short term absence of teachers or during PPA time.
Key Tasks
Supervising the students with work left in accordance with the academy policy.
Assisting in preparing the learning environment and the materials used therein.
Responding to students about the work which has been set.
Collecting any work completed after the lesson and returning it to an agreed person / place.
Leaving the room in good order at the end of the lesson.
Dealing with any immediate problems or emergencies according to academy's policies and procedures.
Supporting faculties / groups of staff in preparation of materials and resources as appropriate.
Working with individuals and groups in or out of the classroom on an agreed work programme.
Supporting a tutor group as a co-tutor, mentoring students as required.
Recording and reporting attendance at lessons in accordance with academy policy.
