Cover Supervisor


15 hours per week (2 days a week), 39 weeks per year.


Salary: Band 5, points 7-9 (Actual Starting Salary: 8,842.97 per annum)

West Somerset College is seeking a dedicated Cover Supervisor to join our supportive and dynamic team. This role is vital in maintaining continuity of learning during teacher absences, supporting students from Year 7 to Year 11, and contributing to the wider life of the school.

Key Responsibilities


Supervise whole classes during short-term teacher absences, ensuring a calm and productive learning environment. Deliver pre-set lesson instructions and maintain pupil engagement and behaviour. Respond to general student queries and provide feedback to teaching staff. Support with exam invigilation and accompany students on educational visits. Provide administrative and pastoral support when not supervising lessons. Maintain accurate attendance records and manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies. Assist with classroom displays and curriculum-related admin tasks.




What We're Looking For



We are looking for someone who is:
Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. Confident in managing classroom behaviour and supporting a range of learning needs. A strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills. Flexible, proactive, and a team player. Has GCSE Grade C/4 or above in English and Maths (or equivalent). Has strong ICT and numeracy skills. Able to build positive relationships with students and staff.
