Gosforth Junior High Academy is a thriving middle school where staff are highly valued and supported. As a school we are committed to providing the very best education for pupils from Year 5 to Year 8.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a Cover Supervisor to join our support staff team at Gosforth Junior High Academy. You will work closely with our Senior Learning and Pastoral Supervisors and other support staff to provide support to students in our school. This will include covering classes in the absence of teachers, supporting individual students, managing student behaviour and assisting students in line with the school's policies and procedures.

First and foremost, we are looking for someone who is passionate about working with young people and is a creative, 'hands on' colleague. You will be empathetic and practical in equal measure, yet firm when needing to challenge student behaviour. Ideally, you will have experience working within a school environment or experience of working with young people in another context.

Primarily, the role will include day to day cover for classes when a teacher is absent as well as supervising our students in isolation/internal exclusion however, it will also sometimes involve some general small group work/intervention for students as directed by the class teacher. Before and after school, the role will entail duties or running clubs for students.

Inspected in November 2023, the school was awarded a 'Good' rating by Ofsted citing that we have high ambitions and expectations of our students and that they are exceptionally well behaved. We strongly recommend you read our report, which can be found here.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU

A competitive salary Generous annual leave Benefits including; excellent pension scheme, cycle to work scheme, free on-site parking An opportunity to work with highly-skilled professionals Enthusiastic and motivated students who 'are engaged in their learning and curious to learn more*.' (Ofsted, 2023)
An exciting and extensive commitment to professional development A school with its community at heart An exciting programme of staff well-being activities Wider career development opportunities to be involved across the Gosforth Group

This is an exceptional opportunity to make a difference within a positive and exciting environment. If you share our community's ethos of progression, diversity and dynamism then we would be delighted to hear from you. We hope you'll visit our website to find out more about us.
