About the role
Permanent role, part time 13 hours per week over 2 days, term time only
Arrive promptly at the classroom
To supervise classes whose normal timetabled teacher is absent, which involves taking sole charge of a group of pupils
Delivering and explaining the work set to students
Responding to any questions relevant to the work set
Ensuring that the students have the materials they need to carry out the tasks set for them
Ensure a positive working atmosphere is maintained and that the work is productive
Facilitate and encourage learning which helps all students achieve their potential
Taking class registers at the start of each session
Dealing with any immediate problems or emergencies according to the Academy's policies and procedures
To have a clear understanding of the needs of all pupils, including those with special educational needs; those of high ability; those with English as an additional language; those with disabilities; and be able to use and evaluate distinctive teaching approaches to engage and support them
Manage classes effectively, using approaches which are appropriate to pupils' needs in order to involve and motivate them
Have clear rules and routines for behaviour in classrooms and take responsibility for promoting good and courteous behaviour both in classrooms and around the school, in accordance with the school's behaviour policy

Who we are looking for
This post will require the post holder to cover lessons and /or registration time for absent colleagues. When covering lessons, the post holder is expected to:
GCSE Grade A- C or equivalent, including English and Maths NVQ 3 for teaching assistants/ equivalent qualification or experience
Good literacy, numeracy and ICT skills relevant to role
Experience working with children in an educational setting
Professional manner with excellent communication skills
Knowledge of assessment modules and other relevant learning strategies and programmes of study
