Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced

Crane Coordinator

to join our team on the Ernest Park project in Basildon. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing all lifting operations on site, ensuring they are carried out safely, efficiently, and in line with statutory regulations and company procedures.

Key Responsibilities

Coordinate all crane activities on site, ensuring that multiple lifting operations are properly planned and do not conflict. Work closely with the appointed person, site management, and subcontractors to plan and schedule crane usage. Ensure compliance with LOLER, BS 7121, and company lifting procedures. Manage crane allocations, lifting permits, and associated documentation. Conduct site checks to confirm safe working conditions, including ground bearing capacity, exclusion zones, and traffic management. Oversee and support crane supervisors and lifting teams during operations. Liaise with suppliers and crane hire companies to arrange equipment and resources as required. Act as a point of contact for lifting operations, resolving issues proactively to avoid disruption to the programme. Promote a strong health and safety culture across all lifting activities.

Requirements

Proven experience in crane coordination on large construction projects. In-depth knowledge of LOLER, BS 7121, and lifting operations best practice. CPCS / NPORS Crane Coordinator or equivalent qualification (preferred). Excellent organisational and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with project teams and subcontractors. Strong commitment to health and safety. Local applicants are preferred due to project location.
