About this role


The main purpose of the role is performance of regular planned preventative maintenance, inspection and servicing routines (e.g. daily, weekly, three monthly), inclusive of all pedestal and gantry cranes, and such other equipment as may be agreed between Repsol and Sparrows in accordance with Client planned preventative maintenance routines and manufacturers manuals/service charts.

Main responsibilities
Crane Maintaining:

Perform repair work as identified by PPM inspection, crane operator reports and other Repsol inspections on pedestal and gantry cranes. Ensure planned maintenance programme is carried out as agreed by Contract Manager and Client, ensuring that all other maintenance work is completed during allocated time. The PMR schedule will be in accordance with the Client's Maximo system and your responsibility will be to complete the specified tasks up to and including the quarterly PMR's. Ensure all Maximo sheets are completed in accordance with Client requirements for input into the maintenance recording system. Responsible for carrying out timely breakdown repairs to ensure crane breakdown is kept to within contract targets. Liaise daily with Contract Support Engineer to advise him of status of on-going work, highlighting any possible problems. Preparation of cranes as required by Repsol for inspection or survey by certifying authorities or third party ensuring the validity of all relevant certification. Daily reporting will be in the form of a written log detailing work carried out, spares ordered and consumed, general condition status etc. Responsible to the Contract Support Engineer for the ordering, receipt, storage and use of all crane related spares and equipment in accordance with the requirements of the contract and the Sparrows Quality Management System. The Offshore Daily Report Form should include an accurate list of consumed spares. Responsible for liaising with Contract Office Materials Controller for the supply of materials and spares, ensuring that urgent items are obtained promptly and distributed to the installation.
Crane Operating:

Operate platform pedestal cranes only on receipt of the verbal or written instructions of Representative, or his nominated delegate. Responsibility for competently operating platform pedestal cranes under the direction of nominated platform personnel and in accordance with the authorised operator's instruction manual, platform operating procedures, Company QA System, Standing Instructions SI-01 and other relevant documentation. Operate cranes within their maximum permitted rating and in accordance with manufacturer's instructions and platform operating procedures at all times. Crane Operations shall only be carried out with a Banksman in attendance. On receipt of an instruction to carry out an operation which, in the opinion of the Operator, will cause the crane to be operated in excess of its maximum permitted rating or in contravention of good cranage or engineering practice, the Operator shall STOP the job immediately and explain his objections to the Representative. The incumbent should also consult with the Sparrows Contract Support Engineer on these issues. The incumbent shall have an understanding of and adherence to LOLER (S12307) Regulations and the client's scheme of compliance (Lifting Plans, TRIC, Risk Assessment, etc.)
General Maintenance:

Carry out daily routine checks on the crane in accordance with the maintenance procedures and pre-start checklist. Maintain cranes in a clean, tidy and, where applicable, watertight condition, including cabs, machinery housings and external surfaces. External and internal paintwork should be retained in a corrosion free condition. Instruct and assist crane maintenance personnel in crane maintenance and repair activities as required.
Focal Point:

The incumbent may be assigned platform crane focal point duties as appointed by the Contract Manager. Focal point is regarded as the platform Company representative. Responsible for establishing and maintaining effective communication with platform representatives to ensure an efficient service is provided on an on-going basis. Duties involve the administration and managing of the Company records and systems, including SMS, installation PMS interface, COSHH, Risk Assessments and QMS. Responsible for ensuring Maximo routine and non-routine job cards are completed within the appropriate timescale bands to ensure compliance. To comply with the Sparrows Integrated Job Costing System, the incumbent must ensure that Offshore Daily Report Form is completed and faxed to the Logistics department Aberdeen, within the stipulated timescale. The form should include an accurate list of consumed spares.



HSEQ Responsibilities

- It is mandatory that the incumbent is familiar with, and follows the Company's Health, Safety, Environment and Quality Management System and takes an active part in the compliance and improvement of the Management Systems.


- The incumbent must report any accidents, incidents, near misses, actual or potential problems with products, services or systems according to the Management System processes/procedures.


- The incumbent also has legal responsibilities under country-specific health, safety and/or environmental legislation to follow these.


- The incumbent is also responsible for the health and safety arrangements of subordinates (if any) and for any persons visiting them while on the Company premises.



Qualifications & Experience


MIST Working at Height Stage 3 Crane Operator VHF/ CAA Radio Level 3 VQ in Engineering Maintenance Mechanical or suitable equivalent
