We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Credit Analyst to join our financial services team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing creditworthiness, analysing financial data, and supporting risk management processes to facilitate informed lending decisions in our export business. Duties
The responsibilities of a credit analyst in the export sector go beyond general credit analysis, focusing specifically on the complexities of international trade.
Financial Statement Analysis:
Meticulously review and analyze the financial statements (balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements) of international clients to assess their liquidity, profitability, and overall financial stability.
Risk Assessment and Mitigation:
Determine the degree of risk involved in extending credit to foreign entities. This involves using statistical models, analyzing financial ratios, and identifying potential "red flags". They then develop strategies to mitigate identified risks, such as recommending the use of trade finance solutions like letters of credit or export credit insurance.
Industry and Market Analysis:
Conduct thorough research into the economic and political conditions, market trends, and regulatory factors within the buyer's country and industry that could impact their ability to repay.
Credit Application Processing:
Gather extensive information about clients, process credit applications, and prepare detailed credit reports and presentations for senior management or credit committees to aid in decision-making.
Negotiating Terms:
Collaborate with internal sales teams and external clients to structure appropriate credit terms, interest rates, and payment schedules.
Monitoring and Reporting:
Continuously monitor the financial performance and payment behavior of existing clients, especially for long-term deals, and report on any deviations or potential issues.
Compliance and Documentation:
Ensure all transactions and documentation comply with internal policies and relevant national and international regulations, such as the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or local export control laws.
Stakeholder Liaison:
Manage relationships and coordinate with key stakeholders, including exporters, foreign buyers, banks etc.
