Job description
Role and responsibilities
The Credit Controller will play a key role in managing the financial and operational aspects of the letting's portfolio. This includes rent receipting, contractor and landlord payments, arrears management, banking reconciliation, and ensuring compliance with mandatory property certification. The role also involves liaising with landlords, tenants, and contractors to ensure smooth maintenance management and timely resolution of property-related issues.
Key responsibilities
Finance & Credit Control
Process rental receipts accurately and in a timely manner.
Make payments to landlords and contractors in line with company policy.
Reconcile banking transactions and ensure accurate allocation of monies.
Manage and allocate invoices, maintaining accurate financial records.
Monitor and chase rental arrears, providing weekly updates to landlords, directors, and the wider team.
COMPLIANCE MANAGEMENT
Monitor mandatory property certification (e.g., Gas Safety, EICR, EPC, etc.).
Ensure all certificates are valid, up to date, and booked in for renewal when required.
Communicate updates to landlords, tenants, and the team regarding compliance.
MAINTENANCE & PROPERTY MANAGEMENT
Manage and monitor property maintenance requests from tenants and landlords.
Liaise with contractors to ensure maintenance is carried out promptly and to a high standard.
Keep all parties informed on progress and completion of works.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance jobs, costs, and communications.
COMMUNICATION & REPORTING
Provide clear, timely communication with landlords, tenants, and contractors
Deliver weekly arrears and financial update reports to the Director and team.
Ensure a high level of professionalism and customer service in all dealings.
Qualifications and education requirements
Previous experience in a credit control or property accounts role preferred.
Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Proficient in using property management software and general office applications.
Good understanding of property compliance requirement
Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to resolving issues.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
