Finance Assistant / Credit Controller

to join their expanding finance team.

Role Overview



This is a hands-on and varied finance role focused on

credit control

and

client payment management

, alongside supporting the Finance Director with day-to-day accounting and administrative duties. The successful candidate will take ownership of ensuring timely client payments, maintaining positive relationships with customers, and assisting with the smooth running of the finance function.

Key Responsibilities



Credit Control & Client Management



Proactively chase outstanding invoices by phone and email to ensure prompt payment. Monitor aged debt reports, identifying overdue accounts and escalating where necessary. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients to encourage good payment practices. Resolve invoice and payment queries efficiently, liaising with internal teams where needed. Maintain accurate records of all credit control activity. Prepare regular debtors' reports for the Finance Director.

Finance Administration & Support



Assist with issuing invoices, credit notes, and statements. Support with bank reconciliations and cash flow updates. Help manage the accounts inbox and respond to supplier or client queries. Assist the Finance Director with month-end tasks, reconciliations, and ad hoc reporting. Support wider finance projects and process improvements as the company grows.

Skills & Experience Required



Previous experience in

credit control

,

accounts receivable

, or

finance assistant

roles. Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with confidence when speaking to clients. Highly organised with strong attention to detail and accuracy. Proactive, persistent, and able to work independently to drive results. Comfortable using accounting software (e.g., Xero, Sage, or similar) and Excel/Google Sheets. Experience within a marketing, media, or data sales environment (advantageous but not essential).
