Credit Controller
to manage our customer accounts and ensure timely payments.
Role Overview:
The Credit Controller will play a key role in managing and improving the company's cash flow by ensuring prompt collection of receivables, evaluating customer creditworthiness, and maintaining strong customer relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitor and manage the company's debtor ledger to ensure timely collection of outstanding payments.
Review and assess new and existing customer credit applications.
Set and monitor customer credit limits and payment terms in line with company policy.
Reconcile customer accounts, investigate discrepancies, and resolve invoice queries.
Issue timely and accurate invoices, statements, and reminders to clients.
Maintain regular communication with customers via phone, email, and written correspondence.
Liaise with the sales and accounts team to resolve disputes and ensure a smooth credit process.
Prepare weekly and monthly reports on aged debt, cash forecasts, and credit risk analysis.
Initiate and manage legal or recovery proceedings where necessary, in collaboration with external agencies.
Ensure all credit control processes comply with relevant regulations and company policies.
Requirements:
Proven experience as a Credit Controller or in a similar accounts receivable role.
Experience in the FMCG, food retail, or bakery industry is a plus.
Strong knowledge of credit control procedures and financial regulations.
Excellent numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or ERP systems).
Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and time management skills.
Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Qualification in Accounting, Finance, or related field is preferred.
