Lowes Transport, a long-established family-run haulage company in the heart of the West Midlands, is seeking a proactive
Accounts Assistant
to join our small, close-knit finance team. You will take ownership of the collections process, ensuring timely payments, resolving account queries, and building strong, professional relationships with customers. The successful applicant will be organised, attentive, and supportive of both colleagues and clients.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and monitor customer accounts to ensure prompt payment.
Chase overdue invoices via phone and email.
Allocate payments accurately and maintain up-to-date records.
Build strong relationships with customers and internal teams.
Investigate and resolve payment discrepancies and disputes.
Prepare regular debtor reports and updates for management.
Assist with credit risk assessments and setting customer credit limits.
Cover staff holidays and support key roles within the accounts office.
Prepare and issue invoices and credit notes.
About You
Previous experience in Credit Control, Accounts Receivable, or administrative finance role (preferred).
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Strong attention to detail.
Experience with
Xero
and
Mandata
(training available if required).
Confident with Excel and other MS Office applications.
Proactive problem-solver who can sustain strong customer relationships.
Friendly, down-to-earth, and brings positive energy to the workplace -- someone who appreciates a good sense of humour.
