Role Summary
:
We are seeking a dynamic and commercially minded Credit Manager to take ownership of our credit risk and collections strategy. This is a key role, managing customer credit across a high-volume B2B client base. Experience in the fuel card or fleet services sector is desirable.
Key Result Areas
:
Requirements of the role include, but are not limited to the following:
Lead and develop a small team of credit controllers, ensuring prompt collections across fuel card accounts
Assess new customer applications, set credit limits and terms based on risk profiles and fuel spend potential
Monitor high-risk accounts and take proactive steps to mitigate exposure
Manage fraud checks, direct debit setups, and early risk indicators for fuel misuse
Collaborate with Sales and Customer Service teams to maintain a balance between commercial growth and credit safety
Produce aged debt analysis, credit exposure reports, and recommend changes to policy where required
Handle escalated debt recovery cases and liaise with external legal or debt recovery agents as needed
Ensure compliance with FCA and other regulatory requirements relevant to credit and finance
Plan and implement a customer 'health check' program that includes invoice analysis, card usage, site locations and other needs as determined by the customer.
Develop and implement credit policies and procedures to minimize risk.
Analyze financial data to identify trends and make informed decisions regarding credit limits.
Collaborate with sales teams to support customer relationships while managing credit risk.
Prepare regular reports on credit performance and present findings to senior management.
Required Skills and Experience
:
Proven experience as a Credit Manager or Senior Credit Controller in a fuel card or fleet services environment
Strong understanding of credit risk management, ideally within a high-volume B2B environment
Experience with automated credit checks, direct debits, and reconciliation tools
Excellent communication and negotiation skills with both internal stakeholders and clients
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP systems
CICM qualification (preferred but not essential)
