We need a versatile and enthusiastic officer to join our Community Safety team to drive a range of activities in response to violent incidents that have a high impact on local communities. You will identify who has been affected (e.g. witnesses, at-risk demographic groups, nearby residents and workers) and establish the community's concerns and needs.
You will then co-ordinate delivery of community engagement activity and the provision by partners of services targeting specific needs, to support the community to recover, build resilience and improve long-term confidence in police, council and partner services.
This post enables us to deliver timely interventions and to support communities affected by serious violence. You will continue to embed the best practice delivery model across all community safety areas; providing support, visibility and reassurance to local communities in critical incident locations.
Much of the role will depend on working successfully with partners so skills and experience in building strong partnership working are essential. Key partners will include the police, third sector services, business and community groups and social landlords.
As part of our lively and friendly Community Safety team you will work alongside staff tackling hate crime, town centre issues, domestic abuse, modern slavery, prevention of extremism and varied crime reduction projects, giving plenty of opportunity for collaboration.
This role will give you chance to demonstrate the Council's key staff values, especially: Taking Ownership - Doing Things Better - Working Together.
You will need experience of engaging with diverse communities, excellent communication skills, project management experience and ability to work on your own initiative. A successful DBS check will be required
