Lead Tutor - Accountancy
Please note: This role includes additional uplift payment of up to 25% for Lead Tutor responsibilities, which will be discussed at interview.

At On Course South West, we are expanding our Skills Provision to offer high-quality apprenticeships, Skills Bootcamps, qualifications, and training in key growth sectors across the city and surrounding areas. This includes business support areas such as accountancy, leadership, customer service, and business.
We are seeking an experienced Accountancy Tutor to lead this exciting new curriculum area. You will be responsible for developing and delivering high-quality teaching and learning to apprentices enrolled in our accountancy programmes, as well as adult learners completing accountancy qualifications. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent communication skills, and the ability to support learners throughout their educational journey.
You will join a dedicated team and be fully supported by our curriculum and quality management team. You'll collaborate with colleagues and partners to build a provision that prioritises progression, quality, and impact.
As an Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) Approved Centre, you will act as the main point of contact, managing our relationship with the professional body. This includes attending training, meetings, and conferences to ensure our offer remains current and responsive to industry needs.
Key Responsibilities
Curriculum Leadership

  • Design and develop curriculum and resources for AAT qualifications and apprenticeships (Levels 1-3).
  • Lead curriculum development and annual reviews to support continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to the self-assessment process to inform ongoing enhancement of On Course South West's Skills Provision.
  • Maintain accurate learner records (e.g., exams and e-portfolios) in line with internal procedures.
  • Monitor progression, retention, and achievement data for your courses.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with AAT as the awarding and professional body.
  • Stay informed about developments in the accountancy curriculum and sector.
Teaching, Training, and Assessment
  • Deliver qualifications and apprenticeships up to Level 3.
  • Conduct initial assessments to determine learners' starting points.
  • Assess learner progress and provide regular, constructive feedback and improvement targets.
  • Deliver inclusive, high-quality learning experiences and actively promote equality and diversity.
  • Adhere to internal quality assurance processes to ensure high standards of assessment.
  • Participate in relevant training and professional development.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Qualified to deliver AAT qualifications up to Level 3.
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
  • Proven experience in delivering accountancy qualifications and apprenticeships.
  • Familiarity with e-portfolio systems.
  • Passionate about education and committed to raising standards.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships.
  • Knowledge of funding streams and requirements for apprenticeship delivery.
