Job Summary

Hemmed Soft Furnishings is growing, and we're looking for an experienced Curtain Maker / Machinist to join our workroom team with a

minimum of 5 years experience in a curtain workroom.

This is a hands-on role for someone who takes pride in precision, quality and beautifully made curtains. You'll be working with a wide range of fabrics and styles, producing made-to-measure curtains, blinds and soft furnishings to a consistently high standard, while managing your own workload and timelines.

We're a design-led, fast-growing business, so accuracy, efficiency and attention to detail are just as important as technical skill.

The role will be working 3 days a week Monday-Wednesday 7.30am- 2.30pm

Duties

Measuring and cutting fabrics accurately for made-to-measure curtains and soft furnishings Making curtains to specification, including different headings and finishes Operating industrial sewing machines confidently and efficiently Carrying out quality control checks to ensure all items meet Hemmed's standards Managing your own time and workload to meet production schedules Flagging any issues with measurements, fabrics or specifications early Maintaining a clean, organised and safe workroom environment

Skills

Proven experience as a curtain maker or machinist within a soft furnishings workroom Strong understanding of curtain construction and sewing techniques Confident working with a variety of fabrics, including linens, velvets and sheers Excellent attention to detail and pride in finish and consistency Good time management skills and the ability to work to deadlines Reliable, methodical and quality-focused Comfortable working both independently and as part of a small team
