Job Title: Customer Assistant

Location: Pillars of Hercules Organic Farm Shop & Cafe, Falkland, Fife, KY15 7AD

Hours: Various hours are available, and will be discussed with candidates at interview. There is scope for part-time work. Candidates must be available to work between the hours of 8am and 6pm. The shop is open 7 days a week, weekday and weekend availability are required. Rotas are done and shared in advance.

Contract Type: Permanent positions available

Pay and benefits: The hourly rate for this position is 12.19. Staff receive lunch when on duty. Following 3 month probationary period a staff discount for shop and cafe is provided. A superannuation pension fund is available following probationary period.

Introduction:



We are looking for team members to work within our shop team in our friendly rural business in Fife. Our small farm shop is busy and a great place to spend your working day! We enthusiastic about what we do, and we are looking for candidates that will complement our team with their own interpersonal skills, initiative and ability to 'get on with the job' and deliver great customer service in our organic shop.

To deliver great customer service our shop staff need to be able to engage with customers, and also to organise, move and count stock; keep the shop looking spic and span, and help customers find the products and information they need. This takes mental and physical energy, so if you are energetic, positive, friendly and want to be part of a great team - we want to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities:



? Stock Room Duties

Undertake day-to-day stock rotations and counting as required

Take receipt of deliveries including unpacking and moving stock to the appropriate locations

Pick stock from the stock room and place in the shop on an ongoing basis to keep stock levels available for customer

Support the Shop Manager in weekly ordering of stock and stock taking activities as/when required

Learn and independently use the online ordering system as / when required

Customer service duties:



Use the point of sale till system to process payments for customer

Take over the phone orders and payments as/when required

Provide customers with consistent and welcoming service during their visit

Deal with and appropriately direct enquiries that are unrelated to the shop

Listen to and redirect customer feedback when required

Money handling:



Take and record cash payments appropriately

Cash count/countersign cash counting at the end of shift

Generate end of shift till reports and process as required

Report any anomalies in cash counting or end of shift reporting appropriately

General duties:



Work with colleagues to ensure safe and effective working environment for yourself and others

Contribute to the team with ideas, support, and flexibility when needed

Skills & Experience required:



? Candidates will need to be able to demonstrate a good understanding of customer service, and ideally (but not, essential) in a retail setting.

? Experience, knowledge and interest in whole food / organic / sustainable retail would be an advantage.

? It is essential that candidates have good numeracy skills for cash and stock handling.

? A good ability to communicate clearly and concisely with customers and colleagues is required.

? This role involves a high level of being physically active - including standing, walking, lifting, carrying, using ladders and candidates must be able and willing to do so

? The shop is located in a rural setting with limited public transport access. Candidates must be able to travel to and from work independently.
