To provide outstanding front-of-house customer service and administrative support at the RSPCA Animal Centre. This role is central to creating a welcoming, professional environment for visitors, potential adopters, and volunteers. In addition to customer care responsibilities, there may be occasions where support is required in the animal care areas to ensure the smooth operation of the centre.
Key Responsibilities: Customer Service & Administration
Greet and assist all visitors, adopters, and volunteers in a friendly and professional manner.
Respond to telephone, email, and in-person enquiries promptly and accurately.
Support the adoption process by providing information about animals, assisting with forms, and explaining procedures.
Maintain up-to-date records using the centre's database and administrative systems.
Process payments and donations, issue receipts, and maintain accurate financial records.
Schedule appointments and coordinate with animal care staff to ensure a seamless customer experience.
Animal Care Support
Assist animal care staff with basic duties during busy periods or staff shortages.
Help with feeding, cleaning, or handling animals as directed.
Observe and report any health or behavioural concerns to the animal care team.
Ensure animal welfare standards are upheld at all times.
Person Specification:Essential:
Very confident with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong organisational and administrative abilities.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, emotionally sensitive environment.
Passion for animal welfare and the values of the RSPCA.
Flexible and willing to assist in animal care duties when required.
Desirable:
Previous experience in a customer service or receptionist role.
Experience handling or working with animals in a professional setting.
Knowledge of animal welfare or adoption processes.
Working Conditions:
Involves Weekend and Bank Holiday work (365 day operation)
Occasional physical work when supporting the animal care team.
