The Post Office Counter Clerk - Banking Hub is responsible for accurately and efficiently managing counter transactions while delivering exceptional customer service. This role includes processing deposits, withdrawals, payments and other services . Maintaining precise financial records, and ensuring compliance with all post office policies and procedures. The position requires an individual capable of working independently while contributing to the overall success of the branch.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Cash and Transaction Management
Process all cash-related transactions including deposits, withdrawals, payments, bill payments and other services.
Verify authenticity of currency, cheques, and other.
Accurately post all transactions in the banking system.
Balance cash drawers daily and investigate discrepancies promptly.
Maintain cash limits and request replenishment as necessary.

2. Customer Service and Relationship Management
Welcome customers warmly and provide prompt, courteous service.
Assist customers with routine inquiries and account information.
Promote and cross-sell post office products and services.
Resolve customer complaints professionally or escalate to the Branch Manager as appropriate.
3. Independent Work and Accountability
Manage daily operations independently with minimal supervision.
Prioritize tasks and ensure timely and accurate completion.
Exercise sound judgment when handling large transactions or suspicious activities.
Take personal accountability for cash handling responsibilities.
4. Compliance and Security
Adhere to all post office policies, operational procedures, and government regulations.
Maintain confidentiality regarding customer and banking information.
Monitor and report unusual or suspicious transactions to the Branch Manager.
Ensure the security of cash drawers, safes, and work areas at all times.
5. Record Keeping and Reporting
Maintain accurate daily transaction records.
Prepare and submit end-of-day balance reports.
Assist auditors and supervisors during branch audits or inspections.
Qualifications and Experience:
Minimum: Good level of education with strong grades.
Preferred: Bachelor's degree or diploma in Banking, Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration.
Previous experience as a bank cashier, post office counter clerk, or customer service role is highly desirable.
Familiarity with banking systems and cash-handling software is an advantage.
