Job description
Part Time / Permanent and Fixed Term
Join our busy front of house teams across our museum visitor attractions, including Jewry Wall Museum, the city's newest visitor attraction. A real Roman experience has undergone an extensive renovation programme and has opened as a fully immersive, state of the art exhibition. Located in the city centre, we are looking for highly motivated individuals to join our busy front of house team. You'll work across several of Leicester's Museum visitor attractions which includes Leicester Museum & Art Gallery, King Richard III Visitors Centre, Leicester Guildhall plus several of our other museums and heritage sites.
We have positions at the following sites
Jewry Wall Museum
16 hours per week, Permanent
Leicester Museum and Art Gallery
27 hours per week, Fixed Term for 9 months
Across various museum visitor attractions
500 Annualised hours
What you'll be doing
As a valued team member of Leicester Museums & Galleries Service, you'll provide a warm welcome to all visitors. There are a range of duties associated with the role that support the delivery of a high-quality experience around the whole site. This includes ticket checking and sales, regular gallery checks, retail sales in the shop, catering sales and serving drinks in the cafe, and maintaining a clean, safe, and secure environment for all visitors. You'll develop a thorough knowledge of the location you will be working at, the key stories told through the exhibitions and displays, and the facilities to ensure the museum delivers to the standards expected of a high-quality museum visitor attraction.
What you'll need
Ideally with experience of working within a museum, visitor attraction, retail or similar background, you'll be committed to providing a high standard of customer service and interaction with visitors of all ages. You'll be able to answer customer enquiries and provide information and advice upon request. You'll maintain a positive and professional approach, and be flexible, proactive, and self-motivated. Using good communication and interpersonal skills, sufficient to be able to promote key features within the exhibitions and galleries with occasional tours and talks to a range of audiences, and, most importantly, be a team player.
