Job Summary

We are seeking a friendly and efficient Customer service/ Deli Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing and serving high-quality food items, maintaining a clean and organised work environment, and providing excellent customer service. This role offers an opportunity to develop catering skills within a Deli/ Retail setting, ensuring customer satisfaction through prompt and courteous service.

Morning shift times 04.00-12.00 Afternoon Shifts 12.00-20.00

Due to the location at Longmile Service station and the hours that we operate having your own transport to get to and from work is essential.

Responsibilities

Prepare a variety of deli products, including slicing meats, cheeses, and assembling sandwiches according to company standards. Serve customers efficiently while maintaining a welcoming attitude. Ensure all food safety standards are adhered to, including proper handling and storage of food items. Maintain cleanliness of the deli area, including sanitising surfaces and equipment regularly. Manage stock levels, restocking shelves as needed, and assisting with inventory checks. Upsell additional products to maximise sales opportunities while providing excellent customer service. Handle cash register operations accurately and efficiently. Follow health and safety guidelines at all times to ensure a safe working environment.

Skills

Experience in food preparation or working within a catering environment is desirable. Knowledge of food safety standards and procedures. Basic maths skills for handling transactions and managing stock levels. Previous kitchen experience is advantageous but not essential as training will be provided. Strong time management skills to prioritise tasks effectively during busy periods. Excellent serving skills with a friendly and professional demeanour. Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team. Enthusiasm for learning new skills related to food preparation and customer service.
